Ge68Germanium 68

Germanium-68 is used in 68Ge/68Ga generators to produce positron-emitting radionuclide 68Ga. Thanks to its long half-live of 270 days, it can be easily delivered to hospitals as a generator, where it can be used as the source of 68Ga for further labelling.

To produce Germanium 68,
we recommend this production route:

  • Recommended

    Cyclone:

    Cyclone® IKON

68Ge is produced with a cyclotron using proton bombardment at 30 MeV

    More about Cyclone® IKON

    Target:

    Nirta® Solid target 30 MeV

GaNi is plated onto the solid target and irradiated with high current creating the 69Ga(p,2n)68Ge reaction.

    Chemistry:

    Pinctada® Ge

Dissolution of the GaNi layer from the irradiated target and purification to obtain 68Ge-chloride used as starting material for 68Ge/68Ga generator manufacturing.
